Visitors Galore

22 people visited this blog yesterday.
It's a record, as cookery blogs tend to have
a small, but lively, following and most people
go to the larger forum or national newspapers
where recipes are numerous and represent a
wide range of tastes.

I put this new interest down to to
World Bread Day extravaganza, which
not only got me decorating my bread with
more care than usual but also set me off
making recipes that I had not tried for years.

We lived on corn bread during the 1980's as it
has such a warm, tasty and colourful texture.
The fact that it is usual to add a high proportion
of egg to the mixture brings it closer to being
a cake.

Yesterday I added some grated carrot, orange zest
and orange juice, instead of milk, to a basic recipe.
Baked in an oiled ring mould lined with pine nuts
and with apples fresh from the garden garnishing the
top, this was ideal for breakfast on a chilly morning.

And some of us merely read through a feed reader, so we don't get counted on your statistics unless we stop in to make a comment. Thanks!

"so we don't get counted on your statistics"

This has set me thinking.

Perhaps hundreds visit daily and I never get to know.

Well, as to visit - no - but read, yes. Read, certainly. Now, to deflate a bit: how many read you from home as well as from work, or don't allow cookies, so you don't know if they're returning.

Stats are tricky, and generally unreliable.

I found Shinystat on Skan's Italian blog and decided to give it a try.

Based on analyzable visitors, it makes projections as to how many more might expect that day.

A bit of fun, really.

It's great to see you posting here, Hudson. Here's hoping you are enjoying the Bank Holiday.
