On the Feast of Stephen

Chrismas... dried fruit, especially golden sultanas and raisins from Greece, doused in whisky and mixed with apples, pears cranberries and spices to make a healthy mincemeat.

For the first time this year I have rolled pastry in wheat germ instead of flour. Glazed with an egg and water mixture before baking, the result is crispy and seasonably shiny.
